About NMRT
President's Welcome
Welcome to the New Members Round Table (NMRT), a round table of ALA. We are home to over 1,200 members, representing every field of library work. Members of NMRT have ten or fewer years of membership in ALA and are typically looking to get more involved in ALA. Members can take advantage of free webinars, resume review, and mentoring connections, as well as build their network and résumé through service on committees. We hope NMRT can be a professional community for those new to the field and the Association and help you find your place within the profession.
NMRT is our members, and we are always open to your feedback. I look forward to working with you. Thanks for being here.

American Library Association
Mission
Our mission is to help those who have been association members less than ten years become actively involved in the association and the profession. The goals are fourfold: (1) to structure formal opportunities for involvement and/or training for professional association committee experiences on the national, state and local levels; (2) to provide a wide variety of programs to assist, encourage, and educate those new to the association and the profession; (3) to offer a variety of leadership training and opportunities to help those approaching the end of their NMRT eligibility make the transition to future positions in the association and the profession, and; (4) to develop and implement ongoing programs for library school students which encourage professional involvement and networking.
