Personal Members

  • Personal membership in ALA/United provides access to benefits for the named member only.
  • Discounts - Discounts for the ALA Store and eLearning apply automatically when logged into the applicable site.
  • Discussion Groups - Login to the United for Libraries community in ALA Connect. Join online discussion groups for Trustees, Foundations, and/or Friends Groups.

  • NEW Quarterly virtual roundtable discussion opportunities with peers from around the country. Registration and information will be announced via email and in the United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources course.
  • NEW Quarterly FREE webinars with expert speakers, a value of more than $200 per membership year. Registration and information will be announced via email and in the United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources course.
  • e-Newsletter - Signup here to receive our monthly e-newsletter.
  • Learning Live, Publications, and Other Resources - access to monthly Learning Live (current and previous), e-Learning, publications, tip sheets, toolkits, and other publications is through the eLearning site.
    • Login to the ALA eLearning site here. In the left-hand menu under My Courses look for the course, "United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources."
    • If you do not see "United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources" in your list of courses:
      • Click "Dashboard" and scroll down until you see, "Exclusive Products."
      • Click on "Division Products."
      • Click on "United for Libraries Member Benefits & Resources."
      • If you do not see this course listed under Division Products, then you are either (1) not a current personal member of United for Libraries, or (2) not logged into the eLearning site with the account associated with your membership. Please email united@ala.org for assistance.
    • Do not share your login with others as all member benefits, training, and resources are for the named member only.

NEW BoardSource Member Benefits for United for Libraries Personal Members

United for Libraries is proud to be partnering with BoardSource to provide our personal members with access to BoardSource member benefits, a value of $129 included at no additional cost with your paid United for Libraries personal membership.

Login to the ALA eLearning site here. In the left-hand menu under My Courses look for the course, "United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources." Alternatively, click on "Transcript" to find a full list of courses. If you do not see "United for Libraries Member Benefits and Resources" in your list of courses, please complete the form here to request access.

Benefits include:

  • Access 100s of topic papers on fundraising, advocacy, recruitment, planning, orientation, and much more.
  • Receive one-on-one support from governance experts via the Ask-an-Expert email service.

Organizational Members - Nonprofit, Library, State Library

  • If your library has an organizational/institutional membership in ALA with United for Libraries added as a division, you are elgible for access to a sampling of tip sheets, toolkits, and on-demand webinars. Statewide Access to Training & Resources

  • Your state library may partner with United for Libraries to provide access to training, resources, and on-demand webinars.
  • Statewide access may vary by state and does *not* include membership.
