Awards, Grants & Scholarships
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) administers:
Book and Media Awards, including the Batchelder, Belpré, Caldecott, Children's Literature Legacy, Excellence in Early Learning Digital Media, Geisel, Newbery, Odyssey and Sibert awards.
Children's Notable Lists, recommending exemplary books, videos, recordings, and computer software for children.
Partnership Grants, including funding from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Disney.
Professional Awards, including the May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture and grants and fellowships to recognize our members, support their outstanding programming, and aid in their continuing education. Additionally, ALSC administers the Bookapalooza Program, offering three select libraries a collection of materials that will help transorm their collection and provide the opportunity for these materials to be used in their community in creative and innovative ways.
Scholarships. Interested in making a difference in the lives of children and starting your career as a youth librarian? ALSC sponsors three scholarships for individuals pursuing a master’s or advanced degree in children’s librarianship.
