2024 marks the 55th Anniversary of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table. If you plan on attending the 2024 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in San Diego, please join us as we celebrate 55 years.

2024 marks the 55th anniversary of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Roundtable. During the past 55 years, these awards celebrate the talent, creativity, and hard work of many authors and illustrators that showcase the black youth experience. Updates and announcements regarding the 55th Anniversary will be shared on this website and posted in ALA Connect.

Use the hashtag #CSKBART55 on social media, share your favorite moments from past Coretta Scott King Book Awards breakfasts or titles that you cherish. Let us know what this award means to you as a library worker, educator, reader, writer, or artist. Ticket Required - FREE
Please register for the event by adding the ticket to your current registration or adding it when you register for ALA Conference.

Bus service will be provided.

A special event will be held to commemorate the power of African American children's literature, as expressed through the enduring legacy of Coretta Scott King Book Awards program, its winning authors and illustrators, and the books they've created. The program will feature a host of special guests in the field of children's and young adult literature.

CSKBART is celebrating its upcoming 55th Anniversary of annually awarding outstanding African American art and juvenile literature with a Virtual Auction. Items have been donated by CSKBART award-winning authors, illustrators, art collectors and include original art pieces, limited signed and print editions and varying book related art memorabilia.

The Coretta Scott King Book Awards will be celebrated all year, from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. We encourage library workers and educators around the world to celebrate all year long. We have provided sample Public Service Announcements and Press Release template that can be adapted for any use. Please let our team know if your event/program was in the news, we'd love to share!

As this is a special anniversary for the Coretta Scott King Book Awards community, a special commitee has been created to spearhead the celebrations.
