ALA Members - Take the ALA Member Demographics Survey!
The ALA Committee on Diversity and the ALA Membership Committee approved the work of a task force to develop a member demographics questionnaire. This ongoing member survey helps ALA take a big step toward knowing itself and being able to describe itself to others.
Note : If you're not currently logged in, you will be prompted to do so before taking the survey.
Unfortunately, our current system will not automatically direct you back to this page after logging in; you'll need to navigate back to the survey on your own. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

In comparing numbers from sources that provide employment information, it is important to understand the sources - and whether their results are compatible. For example, the Bureau of Labor Statistics provides employment information about librarians in the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) and also in the Labor Force Statistics from the Current Population Survey (CPS). The data in these two sources come from two different surveys. The surveys have different purposes, samples, and results. We explain the difference in this one-pager.
