Friendly, curious, reliable.
I listen to podcasts quite a bit. "The Tongue Unbroken," "Read Appalachia," "One Strange Thing," and "the Atlas Obscura Podcast" are a few that are currently in my playlist.
Collegial, engaging, relevant.
I deeply appreciate the opportunities ACRL provides for networking and making connections, both on a regional and national level. The conversations and collaborations that have come to me through committee service and conference attendance within ACRL have been meaningful and engaging. Participating as convener of the ACRL Digital Badges Interest Group was one particular highlight where I've learned and grown from both the programming and professional relationships with colleagues working in similar spaces across our profession. I appreciate how there are opportunities across so many areas of librarianship within ACRL!
As a subject librarian, I am very focused on advocating for library resources and services to my college and likewise advocating the college's needs to the library. My contributions take shape in big ways like collection and resource development to support the curriculum, but also in more individual ways such as relationship building to ensure that students are learning about needed tools and skills. One example of that is I'm embedded into our first year experience program for business students and I help them learn about market research as they prepare for a pitch competition.
I love working with students and helping them to make connections with information and data that shapes their research projects and also build skills they will carry into their careers. Our students have invested so much into obtaining their education, it's a privilege to get to be part of their ecosystem of support and learning.
